Alliance Starts The New Season With A Full Roster

Alliance had a decent season in 2019 – 2020, getting top placements in a lot of important tournaments and finally solving its roster issues. For the 2020 – 2021 competitive season, the European squad will most likely be competing with its current roster made up of 5 strong players: Nikobaby, Limmp, s4, Handsken, and fng. In this article, I will take a closer look at this lineup, as well as Alliance’s results in the past season.

The Accomplishments of Alliance in 2019 – 2020

For the first half of the season, Alliance played with 33 in the offlane role and FATA in the position 5 role. With this roster, the team did well at a number of tournaments: DreamLeague Season 12 (1^st place), ESL One Hamburg 2019 (3^rd place), MDL Chengdu Major (7^th – 8^th), ONE Esports Dota 2 World Pro Invitational Singapore (4^th), DreamLeague Season 13 (4^th), and StarLadder ImbaTV Dota 2 Minor Season 3 (2^nd).

At the end of March, 33 and FATA left and were replaced with s4 and fng. In fng’s case, he was playing at the time for Gambit Esports. Slowly but surely, the player started to play with Alliance regularly, but continued to have a stand-in status within the team. Recently, Loda made the highly anticipated move and signed fng for the upcoming season.

In its new formula, Alliance finished 5^th – 6^th at multiple online events that took place in Europe/CIS. Examples include WePlay! Pushka League S1 Division 1, OGA Dota PIT 2020, BLAST Bounty Hunt, and OMEGA League: Europe Immortal Division. Apart from these results, Alliance also had 2 Grand Finals: one at ESL One Birmingham and one at OGA Dota PIT S2.

Overall, we can say that Alliance accomplished a lot in the previous season and has cemented not only its new roster, but also its role as one of Europe’s toughest competitors. But now it’s time for them to show us how high they can climb.

Alliance’s Chances in 2020 – 2021

If it trains with intensity, Alliance’s roster will certainly make a lot of progress until January 2021, when the big events are rumored to start again. Until then, the expectation is that s4 will prove capable of securing for his team a top 4 or at least a top 6 result at every online event. Given that these tournaments take place online and only involve Europe and CIS, it shouldn’t be huge challenge for Alliance to stay near the top. Apart from Team Secret, everyone else is beatable.

In the near future, Europe and CIS will likely see the rise of Nigma, Evil Geniuses, and Virtus.pro. Once, these teams were much stronger than they are now. But even in the current circumstances, these are Alliance’s main competitors. If Nikobaby and his squad learn how to beat some of these teams consistently, their place near the top is assured.
