All Wolf Abilities in Ghost of Yotei and How to Call the Wolf

In Ghost of Yotei, the wolf companion is one of the feature that feels both unique and powerful. Players has chance to summon the wolf, who can support in battle, provide some help, and even save you during hardest moment. Unlocking and learning all the wolf abilities make the gameplay experience much more interesting and rewarding.

How to Call the Wolf

To be able to call the wolf, player need to unlock and play the Song of the Wolf with Atsu’s shamisen. This skill is not given in beginning, it unlock only after finishing four wolf dens. Once unlocked, you swipe left on the touchpad and the song will be played.

The wolf do appear in many moments, like before standoffs, when Atsu almost dying, after throwing weapon or jars, or when entering into combat. If you have Primal Bond ability, this improve even more, making the wolf come more often and at more different places.

All Wolf Abilities

Wolf abilities are given through completing wolf dens around the map. They can be combat or support focused:

  • Wolf Strike – The wolf give follow-up attack on enemy hit by thrown weapon or Sake jar.
  • Wolf’s Vengeance – After being called, wolf stay to fight together with you.
  • Wolf Assassination – When you assassinate enemy, wolf will take down one more.
  • Wolf Rescue – Sometimes save the player from death when down in fight.
  • Wolf Howl – Make Onryo’s Howl stronger, wolf join to attack one more enemy.
  • Wolf’s Call – Play Song of the Wolf near Yotei Six Camps to bring wolf by your side.
  • Wolf Strike Summon – Using thrown weapon or jar may summon wolf for another attack.
  • Primal Bond – Strengthen the link, wolf respond more often and at wider location.

Naming the Wolf

When finishing the fifth wolf den, player can finally name the wolf companion. Some names are Kiba (“Fang”), Mikage (“Honorable Shadow”), and Shunen (“Relentless”).

By exploring dens and unlocking each ability, the wolf turn into true ally through the journey in Ghost of Yotei. It can support in fights or even save you when defeated, giving more strategy and immersion into the adventure.
