Diablo founder David Brevik has harsh words for Blizzard. David Brevik was one of the most important developers in the 90s. He is one of the founders of Blizzard North, created the first concept for Diablo back then and played a decisive role in its implementation as lead programmer.

He was also involved in the development of Diablo 2. Until 2003, he was the president of Blizzard North. After that, the 53-year-old US-American continued working on his own project “Marvel Heroes” at Gazillion Entertainment and is currently an independent game designer at his own studio Graybeard Games.

“Blizzard is dead to me”

Now he is taking a clear stand against Blizzard, which has been accused of sexual harassment and poor pay by hundreds of female employees. In a Twitch stream, Brevik responds to the situation with Blizzard: “I was very emotional. In short, even if it sounds stupid: Cancel Blizzard. I will never work there again. I’ll never buy anything from them again. Blizzard is dead to me.”

Brevik was also asked on Twitter what it was like on the Diablo team at the time and if Blizzard North also had such incidents. Brevik replied -also via Twitter- that there had indeed been such an incident at Blizzard North once. He said he fired the perpetrator immediately and has a zero-tolerance policy for things like that.

Brevik says the incidents at Blizzard “outraged” him and made him so angry that he “can barely talk about it.” He says he feels for the victims and clearly sides with Activision Blizzard employees.

In a subreddit, many were impressed by Brevik’s behavior. A Reddit user who used to work for Brevik confirmed that the developer was really strict but friendly.
