The 2023 League of Legends season continues, and while some teams announce changes in their lineups to achieve better results, some players hang up the mouse and keyboard. This is the case of Nicholas “Ablazeolive” Abbott, who announced his retirement from the professional League of Legends scene on March 20 through a TwitLonger.

There is no doubt that we are all saddened by the news of a veteran player announcing his retirement. However, there are many very valid reasons why all players decide to retire at some point in what has been their life for many years.

Ablazeolive announces his retirement via Twitter

In a not-so-long TwitLonger, Ablazeolive announced that it was time to hang up his mouse and keyboard and dedicate himself to other aspects of his life.

The player expresses that he has realized that due to his exclusive dedication to League of Legends, he has left aside some aspects of his life that he now wants to resume. On the other hand, the player affirms that after eight years in the scene, he will have the hardest time recovering from time and that from now on, he will focus on it.

Let’s remember that although the mechanics of the game, in general, have not changed since its launch many years ago, the constant updates mean that players have to spend a lot of time practicing and playing to have the right rhythm in the competitions. Many players claim they spend 10-12 hours a day playing/practicing, giving them no time or space to share with their families and friends.

About Ablazeolive

The 24-year-old Canadian was part of many organizations throughout his career, which started in 2015 with Mentality Gaming. After that, he was part of different North American teams until he landed at the popular TSM Academy. While he came very close to moving up to TSM’s main team on several occasions, Ablazeolive, after two years, decided to embark on his path at Golden Guardians and GGS Academy.

From 2019 to 2022, Ablazeolive was between these two teams disputing different events. Finally, on November 28, he signed with Immortals, his last team in the LCS, where he decided to end his professional career.

While the player decides to retire from the competitive scene, he also stresses that it is still unclear what he will do with his future. Ablazeolive points out that he can be a coach, do co-streaming, or dedicate himself to content creation. In addition, we should keep in mind that he is a player of only 24 years old, which tells us that, despite being a veteran in the scene, he is very young and undoubtedly has a very long way to go in life.

There is no doubt that with the experience and wisdom that Ablazeolive has, his future can be promising within the scene, but with a completely different role. From Fragster, we wish Ablazeolive the best of success in whatever he decides to do in the future, and we hope to see him soon as a caster, streamer, or coach of an important team.
