9z Team vs. Infinity Esports – Grand Final Recap

After being the best teams in the preseason, 9z Team and Infinity Esports met again in a grand final, and this time, 9z was able to take the victory.

The Grand Final was played in Haven (9z), Icebox (Infinity), and Pearl (9z). According to the tournament format, the grand final was played best of five (BO5), but due to the dominance of the Argentines, it was not necessary to play the fourth and fifth maps.

Haven

Infinity started very strong on the first map in their attacking side, as they managed to decipher the defense of the Argentines to perfection and, thanks to a good performance of Diego “byrf” Cazanga, they managed to take a partial victory 8-4 in the first half.

However, the response of the violets was not long in coming. They managed to deploy a spectacular offensive by the hand of Giulliano “Tuli” Massone (221 ADR, 331 ACS, and 1.38 Rating) and Gonzalo “deigara” Funes (214 ADR, 331 ACS, and 1.78 Rating) to come back and take the victory with a solid 13-9.

Icebox

In Icebox, we also had a very balanced match in some parts of the game, but it ended with the same result, a 13-9 victory for the Argentines.

The first half was the second sample of the 9z Team’s strength on the attacking side, no matter what map they play. However, this time it was David “david” Olivares who, with 176 ADR, 290 ACS, and a 1.43 Rating, managed to lead his team to a partial victory 8-4.

At this point, things changed, as Infinity tried to react and managed to put the score 9-11 after 20 rounds. However, david continued to show a high level of play and led his team to victory to move to within one being champions.

Pearl

Finally, after two blows to the morale of the Chilean team by the Argentines, they could not hold much in the third map and ended up falling with a score of 4-13.

This time, 9z displayed a defensive performance that they had not shown in either of the first two maps of the series. So impressive was their defensive performance that Infinity could only win three rounds on the attacking side; that is, the first half ended with a partial score of 9-3 in favor of the violets.

The second half was a mere formality for the 9z Team, as they won four of the five rounds played to take the victory and thus proclaimed champions of the VCL Latam South.
