It has been announced that FIFA 21 publisher Electronic Arts and FIFA have ramped up the prize money for the upcoming esports season, with $4.3 million set to be up for grabs this time around. As well as this, a new structure will also be in play, with anticipation for the new campaign already being high as a result.

What the Change in Structure Means for FIFA Esports

The new FIFAe season will now have three competitive divisions, involving players, clubs and nations, with new qualification chances surrounding each. Each will stand along tournaments that will feed into what will be referred to as the FIFA Pinnacle Event. In an announcement from EA, it was revealed that players will be able to represent their favorite club side in the FIFAe Club Series and battle it out for national pride in the FIFAe Nations Series, as well as creating their own legacy in the EA Sports FIFA 21 Global Series, which is part of the Road to the FIFAe World Cup.

How Will Prize Money Now Be Distributed Within FIFA Esports?

Both the FIFAe World Cup and FIFAe Nations Series come will now come with a prize pool of $500,000, while the FIFAe Club Series offers a total of $350,000. Meanwhile, an additional $3 million in prizes will be paid out by Electronic Arts to those competing in qualifiers, regional playoffs, the eChampions League and CONMEBOL eLibertadores, which is part of the EA SPORTS FIFA 21 Global Series.

On top of such news, it has also been revealed that the registration process for the FIFAe Club Series is open to all, meaning that all teams and players can sign up to play. The event is set to get underway online in November, with those achieving the best results qualifying to compete at the prestigious FIFFe Club World Cup in 2021.

Germany’s Mohammed Harkous won the FIFAe World Cup in 2019 after defeating Mosaad Aldossary from Saudi Arabia in the Grand Final, taking home over $200,000 as a result.
