Skyesports Championship 2024 was a $300.000 CS2 tournament played in Mumbai, India. We rarely see big esports tournaments in this country, let alone CS2 ones.

Given the prize pool, the location, and the fact that BLAST Premier Fall Groups is scheduled to start in the coming hours, most of the world’s best teams did not attend the Mumbai tournament. But some of them did.

In particular, The MongolZ, BLEED Esports, Eternal Fire, and ENCE competed and were expected to do well. Their results weren’t terrible but they weren’t as good as expected either.

Results

BLEED Esports, The MongolZ, and ENCE played in group A. This group, to everyone’s surprise, was won by Aurora Gaming, a team full of Russian players. BLEED were eliminated after finishing 4th with a 3 W – 2 L result.

With the exact same record but with slightly better stats, The MongolZ and ENCE advanced to the playoffs.

In group B, Eternal Fire won with a 4 W – 0 L record. BetBoom Team missed the tournament, so this group had only five participants. The list of teams that qualified for the playoffs was completed by 3DMAX and AMKAL Esports.

In the playoffs, 3DMAX defeated ENCE in the quarterfinals, while The MongolZ bested AMKAL in a very tough match.

The French roster of 3DMAX played well in this first playoffs match and could not be stopped by gla1ve’s team. Despite sdy’s efforts, Maka finished with a record of 40 – 22 while Lucky’s score was 35 – 20. Both players were hugely important in securing the result.

In the semifinals, 3DMAX encountered Aurora and struggled against them. The second map was lost despite having a 4 – 8 advantage after the first half. Every single map was difficult, requiring between 22 and 24 rounds to conclude. In the end, 3DMAX won 1 – 2. Once again, their star player was Maka.

Meanwhile, The MongolZ won the other semifinal, defeating Eternal Fire 2 – 0. Everyone expected this result, in part because The MongolZ won an important CS2 event recently and are now one of the world’s best teams.

In the Grand Final, 3DMAX were expected to lose badly. But they actually won without any problems. The scores were 13 – 4 on Anubis and 13 – 5 on Ancient. And this time, Maka was not even required to play like he usually does to secure victory. That’s because Graviti, Ex3rcice, and other members of 3DMAX played much better than usual.
