Relog Media and cryptocurrency casino Roobet have announced a new online cup that will feature teams such as Gambit, FaZe and Virtus.pro. The event is scheduled to take place in the summer and has a prize pool of a quarter of a million.

The $250,000 Roobet Cup has been announced and is currently scheduled to take place at the end of June. The event will feature 16 teams competing for a share of the prize pool of a whopping $250,000 – the largest prize money offered in a Relog online tournament to date. Seven participating teams have also already been confirmed, with German team MOUZ, FaZe Clan, Imperial, Virtus.pro, Entropiq, Copenhagen Flames and Gambit each receiving invitations to the group stage.

Format and prize pool distribution

The format will be a standard GSL best-of-three group stage, with two teams from each group advancing to the playoffs. The playoffs themselves will be played in a knockout system, with the winning team then taking home the bulk of the $150,000 prize pool. The group stage kicks off on June 22, followed by the playoffs from June 27-30.

Further details on the additional invited teams and potential qualifiers have not yet been announced, but are sure to be announced soon. However, the organization has already stated that they want to get more top teams like Ninjas in Pyjamas, Heroic and Astralis to participate in the tournament.

Favorites for the Roobet Cup?

With these teams taking part, the tournament promises to be a real high-flyer. At the moment, Natus Vincere and FaZe are in the top two spots in the world rankings, followed by Gambit, G2, Heroic and Virtus.pro. These top CS:GO teams are thus naturally also considered to be big favorites for the Roobet Cup. But you shouldn’t underestimate the other teams either, like Vitality, FURIA or the German team MOUZ, which is currently ranked 13th in the world rankings.

Many of these teams are currently fighting against each other in the ESL Pro League 15. Currently NiP and Liquid are facing each other, the winner of the match will then enter the semifinals, where he will have to fight against the winner from ENCE’s match against Movistar Riders. On Friday, March 8, FaZe and Natus Vincere will also face each other and compete.

The winner of this match will have to face either Astralis or FURIA. So far, Natus Vincere has done fantastically well in the tournament as usual, but FaZe is – and will continue to be – a serious contender, so the Roobet Cup is sure to be an exciting affair. The $250,000 prize pool at the Roobet Cup doesn’t disappoint either and is sure to get some people tuning in.
